About the Firm Attorney Barbara A. Kreitz Cook

With more than 20 years of experience in general civil litigation and transactional and governmental administrative matters, I strive to have my firm provide the very best of legal representation in matters involving Admiralty and Maritime Law, Association Law, and General Business Law. Out of over 100,000 Florida attorneys, I am one of only 61 who have attained Florida Bar Board Certification as an expert in maritime law. My results prove that I am effective at negotiating agreements and dispute resolution. My engineering degrees and experience at large corporations give me an understanding of complex boat building and defect issues. My small business experience allows me to understand and counsel other small business owners on methods to achieve cost effective and prompt results, potentially without the need to file a lawsuit. I have lived aboard boats while cruising the Caribbean for several years, and have a personal understanding of maintenance, operation, and piloting of vessels.

I am highly selective in the matters that I undertake to ensure responsiveness to the clients I represent. I distinguish my firm by my accessibility.

The firm represents vessel and dock owners, marinas, seamen and captains, in all matters involving boats, docks, and the water, including personal injury, property damage, dock and riparian rights, administrative and environmental actions and permitting matters, vessel purchase and sales, liens and mortgages, insurance, repair, and other contract disputes, and seamen licensing, wage, and injury actions.

The firm also represents business owners, homeowner associations, and individuals in association law, and in general federal and state civil litigation matters, including, contract and covenant disputes, foreclosure and deficiency litigation, and administrative and government actions.
